Adhesive

Adhesive can be used when your flange is not fully adhering to your skin. It comes in a few different forms such as a spray, wipes, and adhesive in a jar!

Adhesive Remover

This can be especially useful to protect skin when removing an appliance. If your pouch is difficult to remove, an adhesive remover spray can loosen the pouch as you gently pull it away. Once off, an adhesive remover wipe can remove any sticky residue left of the skin.

Barrier Rings

Using a barrier ring is just one method to filling in uneven skin around the stoma. Ostomy appliances tend to stick the best when the skin is even and smooth.

Bands

If you are looking to cover your ostomy so that it appears smooth under clothing, a band is an option for you. It can reduce any bulging appearance the pouch might give you as well as hold your ostomy in place.

Barrier Paste

This is another method to smooth out uneven skin. Paste acts as caulking around the stoma to help seal any divots. A thin ring placed around the stoma is all you need for this to be effective, otherwise it can be a big mess!

Barrier Strips

Similar to the barrier ring, this is effective for filling in uneven skin. Because it comes in a strip, however, it allows you to choose how much you need to use and what shape you want it in.

Belts

If you’ve ever noticed tabs around the end of your ostomy appliance, you may wonder what they are for. Most ostomy pouch manufacturers have designed a belt that will clip into those tabs to increase the security of the appliance.

Covers

Ostomy pouch covers can be a fun way to conceal your ostomy. Many offer additional benefits such as odor reductions, clothing protection, and moisture wicking.

Deodorizers

Deodorizers for the ostomy output come in a couple of different forms such as liquid drops or gel sachets. It can improve your confidence when emptying your pouch, especially outside of the home!

Flange Extenders

Flange extenders are used to increase the surface area of skin that your appliance is adhered to. By doing this, it increases the wear-time of your pouch and protects from outside forces such as water.

Thickening Agents

Gelling products are used when output is too thin. A sachet or loose gelling beads are placed into the pouch, and when it comes into contact with thin output, it gels. This can help to reduce leaks and skin irritation.

Hernia Belts

These belts are designed to allow the ostomy pouch room to expand while placing pressure on the rest of the abdomen. These belts provide support to weakened abdominal muscles after surgery, and can help prevent the start or worsening of a hernia.

Liners

Liners are a thin plastic pouch that can be placed within your two-piece ostomy system to increase the longevity of your pouch.

Protectors

There are few different forms of protection for stomas, the most popular being a protective belt. These provide a shield directly over the stoma and are to be used anytime the stoma may be susceptible to injury, such as when playing a sport.

Skin Barriers

Sometimes skin around the stoma is exposed to enzymes from the output. Skin barrier is used to protect the skin in the event the output comes into contact with it preventing irritation.

Stoma Powders

There are a number of stoma powders available, and they are typically used in conjunction with skin barrier to protect and heal skin. Should there be irritated or weeping skin, a light dusting of stoma powdered sealed in with skin barrier can reduce that irritation.

Nystatin Powder

This prescription powder is used when fungal infections appear on the skin. It can be used similarly to stoma powder being sealed in with skin barrier.
